Hypo-Allergenic, Hypo Allergenic is actually a marketing term that was first used in 1953. A product is called hypo-allergenic when it has been formulated to minimize the risk of allergic reactions. Hypo means "less than" not "none" which means that hypo-allergenic just means "less likely to cause an allergic reaction" There are no Federal standards or definitions that govern the use of the term hypo-allergenic. |
